Our Brantford network support also offers great services in our office. One of my colleagues mentioned this MS Office and he said it's quite good. I think every company needs server support. I already bookmarked this post, if you don't mind. Granted it takes a quick manual change on the other environments side but that's no biggie. So, scratch my previous comment, we can now support hosted customer Federation.Matt Freestonehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05132068242948007136noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4688688680584167129.post-5402690594807040862010-03-31T09:24:19.765-07:002010-03-31T09:24:19.765-07:00Matt (the other matt ;-)
Thanks for that insight. ...Matt (the other matt ;-)
Thanks for that insight. I guess that is one remaining the few things that would make in house server more appropriate.

I really think that federation that ocs provides may be the solution that finally interconnects companies in a fundamentally different/new way than they historically done with traditonal telephone calls. I know cisco has their new IME--but ocs is already federating tons of companies and microsoft has the clout to make things happen.

I think this hurtle with ocs federation in a hosted environment will need to be overcome. Especially for SMB ocs users. We'll see what happens.

once again i always appreciate comments
MattMatt Landishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15397535269742889630noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4688688680584167129.post-49133579717311932772010-03-31T09:07:13.494-07:002010-03-31T09:07:13.494-07:00Hi everyone, this is Matt from Prometheus Networks...Hi everyone, this is Matt from Prometheus Networks (also known as GoProNetworks.) I just wanted to let everyone know why hosting providers don't have 'Federation' support. This is unfortunately due to how OCS servers connect. They do a DNS SRV lookup for the Federation record and if the record returned doesn't match the SIP domain of the user, the OCS server rejects it. The only way around this would be to replace the SSL certificate on every OCS Edge server with a new cert containing a SAN for the new customers domain every time a customer signed up. So, you see the problem. While Intermedia's price of $320 might seem excessive that's why it's excessive. We too can provide Tanjay support (Tanjay's have the exact same issue as Federation) and Federation support between OCS environments if a customer is large enough or wishes to pay for it by providing that customer with their own OCS Edge server. Granted, definietly not the best solution but unfortunately it's the only solution we've come up with so far. We do however have Federation support between customers hosted on our environment.

Just wanted to explain that for everyone as I'm sure when people look at this chart they will wonder why no one supports Federation. Nice post Matt, keep up the good work!Matt Freestonehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05132068242948007136noreply@blogger.com
