Grandstream notes the new GXV3240 “Is a great for phone for Lync users and for Lync deployments”. Grandstream has released a video that depicts the device running Lync 2013 mobile. (click here) The channel list price is $219. (click here)

What is unique about the GXV3240?
- Both traditional IP phone format and touchscreen
- Runs Android OS
- Bluetooth
- HDMI for external screen
- Video camera
- Touchscreen 4.3”
- Expansion Module (click here)
- Full access to Google Play store
Some questions I have about the GXV3240:
- Will the keypad/buttons work with Lync 2013? (or just touchscreen?)
- A: Appears like the GXV3240 has an app to integrate the phone buttons/keypad to Lync. See the picture below)
- Will the expansion module integrate with the Lync 2013 mobile app?
- Does the voicemail light integrate with Lync voicemail?
- The GXV3240 has video built-in, but does it work with Lync 2013? (video does not demo video)
- According to “Using Lync on GXV3240” (click here) the video camera does work with Lync
The below dialer app integrates the phone keypad with Lync 2013 Mobile. (See more here)
With optional expansion module. (I do not know if this works with Lync)
The GXV3240 is not listed as a Microsoft Lync certified IP phone. (but there is currently no category to certify devices running the Lync 2013 mobile client that I know of)
This is an interesting new category of Lync capable IP phones. I suspect this might not be the last Android based IP phone to add Lync capabilities using the Lync 2013 mobile client. Certainly an interesting new angle.
