Just open regedit, add a new key called “Communicator” under “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft”. Then under this add a new DWORD Value called “SavePassword” that equals “1”. Now you will have an option to save your Office Communicator password for instances when OCS is hosted or you are outside your network.
The substance for this post came from:

With me adding that you need to add a new key.

Hi Matt,
ReplyDeleteI prefer and recommend the use of the Communicator.adm GPO Template provided by Microsoft. Makes it much easier and offers more option in managing communicator!
The adm template file can be found in the Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2 Client Group Policy Documentation download (easy to find in Download center home - http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/default.aspx )
It includes a useful Excel sheet which explains every setting in detail!
